BLIZZARD UPDATE – STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARED ![]()
![]()
The Governor has declared a State of Emergency ahead of the approaching blizzard, all public safety departments in Berkley are actively preparing to ensure the safety of our residents.
The Berkley Police Department will have additional officers on duty throughout the storm to respond to emergencies, assist residents, and support our partner agencies as needed.
We are working closely with Berkley Fire/Rescue & Berkley EMA which has added additional in-station staffing at both stations to maintain rapid emergency response capabilities.
The Berkley CERT Team stands ready to open a Warming Center or Emergency Shelter if extended power outages occur.
In the event of outages, we will coordinate with Taunton Municipal Lighting Plant (TMLP) to monitor conditions and determine if activation of a center or shelter is necessary.
If a Warming Center or Emergency Shelter is opened, residents will be notified immediately through:
*
Social Media
*
Town Websites
*
TextMyGov Alerts
Closures:
Please be advised that Berkley Town Offices and Berkley Public Schools will be closed during the storm.
We strongly urge all residents to follow State of Emergency guidelines and stay off the roads unless you are an essential worker.
Please give plow crews from the Berkley Highway Department the room they need to keep roads clear for emergency vehicles.
Now is the time to:
* Check on neighbors, especially seniors and vulnerable residents
* Fully charge phones and essential devices
* Fuel generators safely and use them outdoors only
* Prepare emergency supplies
Your safety is our top priority. Stay home, stay prepared, and stay safe.
